Vacations - Rome 2000

Palatine Hill

This is a view of some of the ruins on the top of Palatine Hill (situated between the Roman Forum and the Circus Maximus). It is on this hill that Rome is said to have started, where the legendary founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, were suckled by a wolf. Legends aside, it appears that the hill was inhabited as far back as the 9th century BC and, therefore, does deserve to be called the birthplace of Rome.
