Roman Forum
This is the Roman Forum as viewed from the Capitoline Hill (Campidoglio) with the Arch of Septimus Severus in the forefront and the Sacred Way (via Sacra) running into the distance. The arch was built in AD 203 to celebrate victories in the Middle East. To the left is the Curia, or Senate House. The Forum was the center of daily life in ancient Rome, similar to the modern day markets and town square.
